“Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.”
-Babe Ruth, Sandlot

I’d like to adapt this famous quote from The Sandlot and apply it to investing:

“Disruptions get remembered, but principles never die.”

Over the last week, I’ve talked to you about several trending news stories and how they might affect your finances. With the way media outlets sensationalize the news, it’s easy to forget that the latest trending stories are just that – trendy. In a month, they’ll be old news, and the talking heads will be raving about something entirely different.

This underscores the fact that while trending news can affect the market, it is often short-lived. We may remember these temporary disruptions, like Bitcoin, GameStop, and NFTs. However, ultimately the investing principles that have driven the markets for decades remain in place.

As a financial advisor, it’s my responsibility to stay up to date with the latest trends and help explain them to my clients. However, I must also remind them of the short-term effect these trends have on the markets and keep them focused in the long term.

Give us a call today at 513-563-PLAN (7526) or book online here and schedule an appointment. We’d be happy to sit down with you and discuss how we holistically approach financial planning and help you achieve long-term financial success by filtering out the increasingly loud noise of the news.
