I doubt one can put a value on the impact Star Wars has had on the world.

Disney has tried – purchasing the franchise for $4 billion back in 2012, but one could argue they got it for cheap.

What began as a single movie in 1977 has exploded into a massively successful global phenomenon, inspiring theme parks, spinoff shows, movies, and even a holiday.

Tomorrow is May 4th, and it marks Luke Skywalker Day, otherwise known as “May the fourth be with you” day, punning the phrase, “May the force be with you.”

What started as a grassroots movement in small Facebook groups in 2008, Skywalker Day is now officially recognized by Disney. Even some cities have celebrated the occasion. The Rebel Alliance would be proud of the tenacity of everyday fans that made Skywalker Day possible.
