Crafting the financial future of your dreams takes real discipline.

We can have all the best intentions in the world – “I’m not going to spend ANY money this week on Starbucks!” – but they can fly out the window in a moment of temptation.

One way to stay the course is to create a vision board so that what you dream of is always right there in front of you.

Here’s what you need to make one:

  • A pin or corkboard (pick one you like looking at, there are some ugly ones out there!). You can go as big as you want, but no smaller than 24×24”.
  • Magazines that you can cut pictures out of. Things like houses, quotes that inspire you, retirement lifestyle- type pictures.
  • The obvious: scissors, tape, pins, glue. Stuff to stick the other stuff to your board.
  • Markers, stickers, and other embellishments. This is just for fun and totally optional.
  • Time! Set aside an hour or two and get creative. You can even make a gathering of it and invite your family and friends to do it with you (if it’s safe to do so – otherwise plan a Zoom session where you can create them together).

The trick is to keep this vision board somewhere that you’re going to see all the time. Make sure that you keep looking at it. We humans are very visual – we’re much more likely to stay on track if we keep seeing what we want.

If your board stops inspiring you, that’s okay! That doesn’t mean the board is useless and should be thrown away. It just means you need to update it to something that has real meaning for you.

We’ve all got goals. Goals take money (most of the time). Sound financial planning can make even your wildest bucket list items possible, so call 513-563-PLAN (7526) or click here to use my online scheduler, and let’s talk about how we can make your vision board come to life.
