If life were like the movies, we’d probably have a crystal ball to show us what’s going to happen throughout our day.

What’s this? There’s going to be a traffic jam on the highway? Looks like I’m taking the back roads!

We’re getting hit by a freezing rain storm at exactly 2:43pm? Ugh, better hit up the grocery store early so I can be home well beforehand.

Sadly, crystal balls don’t exist, but thankfully we have science to help us predict at least one part of our day – the weather. You might not think so, but the weather is a huge contributor to how our day will play out.

For example, if you wake up to a gloomy, rainy day, you may feel a little down. Some people get headaches from the change in air pressure that a storm brings.

If you’ve slept in too long after a snowstorm, you’re going to have a fun time cleaning off your car and driveway. On top of that, rushing around and being late can set your day off on the wrong foot and put you in a lousy mood.

Fortunately, we can rely on weatherpeople’s insights to help us plan for these weather occurrences.

Since today is National Weatherperson’s Day, we salute them and their dedication to helping us to understand weather patterns and gain control on our day ahead. Today’s also the birthday of John Jeffries (one of the first documented weather observers), who started taking weather measurements daily in 1774.

Without this profession, we may not know what the day’s weather will hold, and we’d be at the mercy of seemingly random weather events.

Weather, if you think about it, is a bit like finances. One moment you’re playing golf on a bright, beautiful sunny day, then you see storm clouds rolling in. Before you know it, you’re all wet and running for the nearest tree. Note – please don’t do that during a thunderstorm because I said this, especially if you’re litigious. 🙂

The point is, you may think your finances are in perfect order until life takes you by surprise and you get hit with a huge bill you didn’t plan for.

Fortunately, there is a way to plan for financial storms – through a certified financial advisor. And like a weatherperson, we can help you forecast your financial future. We’ll help you keep the sunniest and most beautiful days ahead of you and prevent you from getting stuck in stormy weather.
