Ready for a mental pause?

Let’s all take a moment to celebrate the app.

Yes, believe it or not, December 11 is National App Day. It started in 2017 but no one knows who started it. Most likely some whiz kid in his parent’s basement.

Who would have thought that the word “application” would be transformed into a short word that could apply to everything from desktop programs (which now are called apps) to smartphone additions like the weather or word games?

In 2010, the word “app” was named Word of the Year by the American Dialect Society since it best summed up people’s obsession with it the previous year.

Here are a few of the most popular apps back then:

  • Candy Crush Saga
  • Temple Run 2
  • Angry Birds
  • Price Check by Amazon
  • Foursquare
  • Trade Nations
  • Twitter
  • Instagram

Of course, over the years we’ve seen financial planning apps pop up. Most deal with budgeting but a few offer investing advice too.

The only downside is that you’re getting generalized information. It’s just not the same as sitting across from a real financial advisor and discussing your own situation.

This is why we like to spend time with our clients. True value comes from heart-to-heart talks, where we delve into your financial dreams. We take a close look at where you are currently and then work with you to develop a sound plan for reaching your goals.

The upside is that we’ll never clog up your smartphone with endless updates or stop working because you upgraded your operations system.

If you’re looking for more than general advice, the best place to start would be to call us at 513-563-PLAN (7526) or book online for a friendly 15-minute phone call. We’ll listen and direct you to the next step.

Meanwhile, if you can find an Angry Birds game, enjoy. And be careful to avoid The Pigs!
