Sometimes you just have to shake your head…
Recently, a Utah man thought he’d be sneaky about getting a free hotel room.
His scam?
Releasing rodents in at least three different hotels and then complain about them.
Ryan Sentelle State, 37, would check into hotels and bring some extra “guests” with him. He’d release the rodents and then call the staff to notify them about the apparently dirty hotel room.
He’d point out the droppings and, in some cases, the rodents themselves, and then ask to be compensated for the room. According to the police, he scammed at least three or more hotels with this ploy.
He now faces five charges: three counts of criminal mischief and two charges of theft by deception.
Some people will do almost anything to get something for free.
When it comes to financial planning, slow and sure wins the race. There aren’t any “get rich quick” schemes that would attract a scammer. Just sound advice that is above the board.
