We’re already nearing the end of the second month of the year, believe it or not.

And I’d like to switch gears a bit by asking you two questions:

1) What can you live with this year?
2) What can you live without?

As we become older, we often become more introspective. Sometimes, for instance, it really does seem appropriate to live under the old axiom, “Whomever Dies With The Most Toys Wins.”

But is that what’s really important?

A friend shared with me some of the smarter pieces of financial advice they received over the years—and I pass it on to you.

He said, “Most people who overspend their income do so in one of three ways: 1) Too much house, 2) Too much car, 3) Too much entertainment.”

Sure, you may have some unexpected financial situations such as medical emergencies or a job loss. But overall, if someone is having a difficult time making ends meet, the solution just might be to evaluate how much they’re spending on their home, car, or entertainment.

Living modestly doesn’t sound exciting. It sounds like you might be missing out on something.

But are you really?

Being intentional about your costs and looking for savings opportunities will allow you to live a very comfortable life later, when you’re not bringing in a monthly income from a job.

We like to have such discussions with our clients. At Matson & Cuprill, we’re all about living a good life, full of purpose and intention. Give us a call at 513-563-PLAN (7526) or book online and we can share some financial advice that will put you on solid ground. And our advice will never be too much. Instead, it will be just right—for you.
