Ever wonder how people around the world spend Christmas Eve?
Many of us in the US spend it attending mass, wrapping up those last-minute gifts, or waiting for that blissful moment when the kids finally fall asleep so we can fill those Santa shoes – then tumble into bed ourselves…
… there’s a great big world out there with countless traditions!
But my favorite Christmas Eve tradition might just be Jólabókaflóðið – the Icelandic tradition of curling up with a new book and chocolate.
(Try saying that word five times fast, though…)
The super-wholesome routine started in World War 2, where import restrictions caused dramatic gift limitations at this time of year.
Starting in 1944, a book catalog was sent out to each Icelandic household in November every year, and this still happens now.
I’m curious, how do you and your family spend Christmas Eve?
One thing I hear a lot is that people dream up what they want to accomplish over the next year, which is a great thing. A lot of goal setting surrounds financial planning, so if that’s on your radar for 2022, get in touch by calling 513-563-PLAN (7526) or booking a time that works for you here.
From our office to your family, we wish you the best holiday season ever.
