I don’t know about you, but I’m eager to travel again.

There’s just something so exciting about heading to the airport, whisking away just to ‘get away from it all.’

Traveling itself can be exhilarating, but when you add up the cost of your journey, then you might start to feel the pinch. Hotels, taxi services, luggage fees, expensive dinners away from home, and let’s not forget the flight!

There’s GOT to be a way to save some hardcore cash when you travel, right?

Well, if you’re in the know, experts will tell you that there are several ways you can avoid lightening your wallet. Here are a few tips you can keep in mind to help you on your next adventure:

There ARE cheaper days of the week to fly. Typically in the U.S., it is cheaper to fly on a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Fridays and Sundays are the most expensive days, as these are the days most travelers are coming and going.

Try being flexible with arrival and departure dates if you can. If possible, plan your flights in advance before booking off precious vacation time, if your employer allows. You could potentially save hundreds of dollars this way!

Consider traveling off-season. This tip is great if you’re a fan of the all-inclusive experience or open to exploring new places at a less popular time of the year.

Niagara Falls hotels, for example, are typically cheapest in October and November, as a slight chill in the air drives them away. But you’ll save money on attractions, dining, and experience the Falls with the changing colors of the trees, without the crowds. Heaven!

One final tip: some popular all-inclusive destinations only have flights on certain days. St. Lucia, for example, has a limited flight schedule depending on the airline.

If you were hoping to use airline rewards to fly on a Monday, you might be disappointed when that airline only flies on a Sunday. And some resorts are exclusive partners with specific airlines! If you can be flexible with dates, you’ll have a better selection of flights, destinations, and specific resort brands.
