Happy birthday to the New York Stock Exchange!

229 years ago today, 24 stockbrokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement. Named after the brokers’ traditional meeting place, underneath a buttonwood tree on Wall Street, this agreement was the founding document of the NYSE.

What began as a small group of brokers signing a formal agreement, the NYSE has grown into a $24.5 trillion behemoth. Originally, brokers were trading only a handful of securities like Revolutionary War bonds and First Bank of the United States stock. Those humble beginnings have evolved into derivatives, options, and high-frequency trading. Trying to navigate the waters of the market today can seem like you’re trading in an ocean full of sharks.

That’s where we come in. We aim to give you peace of mind knowing your money is safe and growing. We simplify the complicated, allowing you to focus on the other important parts of your life. As your financial advisor, we would help you navigate the shark-infested waters of the markets and help you chart a course toward a financially secure retirement.
