I recently came across a rather disturbing article about how the pandemic has been a significant blow to people just as they were preparing to retire.

Bad news never arrives at a good time, but this crisis was particularly damaging given how quickly it occurred.
One minute we’re living in what was quite possibly the best economy in U.S. history. And almost overnight, it ends—massive unemployment and uncertainty.
And as these people soon learned, getting a job at 60 is a lot tougher than at age 30.
Lots of lessons to be learned from this article, but the most obvious one surrounds risk management. If you lost your job today, how well could you weather that storm? What effect would it have on your long-term plans?
