Ouch.
That nervous, unsettled feeling in the pit of your stomach. Sweaty palms. A little nausea.
You know you’re in for it tomorrow.
Yep, you forgot about Valentine’s Day and totally spaced on getting your partner a gift. Again. Why do you do this to yourself?
Although it’s too late to hack their Pinterest account and find an amazing gift on Amazon, you can still impress your loved one. There are some incredibly thoughtful gift last-minute gift ideas floating around on the internet, and here are some of the best:
- Mani/Pedi – make your partner’s hands and feet feel great for at least two weeks!
- Massage. Book a professional one if you’re not talented in this area. Don’t just give a printed-out coupon for 4 minutes of you clumsily rubbing your partner’s back through their shirt. If you want to give a home massage, make it a good one. Do the work and set the mood with candles, and learn some decent techniques.
- An empty house for 24 hours. No less, but longer would be better if you can swing it.
- A planned weekend with friends. Hotel booked, babysitter arranged, event tickets bought.
- Have a cleaning company come and do even just ONE deep clean of the house.
- Concert tickets with backstage passes. Sitter (or let’s face it, grandma) booked. Hotel overnight is a bonus.
- Get the car detailed. If you have small kids, there are probably more Cheerios under those car seats than aisle 7 of Wal-Mart.
- Facials/massages/hair appointments pre-booked for as many months as you can afford without getting a second mortgage.
- Take on one task your partner HATES doing (dishes, laundry, grocery shopping) for one whole month. Stick to it.
- A completely pre-planned weekend alone with you on the town.
- Think about the one thing they’ve vented about multiple times in the last month. Now figure out how to make it go away for at least a week.
One thing these ideas all have in common is that you can arrange them today, with little work, and it will look like you’ve been mulling over your gift for weeks. And don’t worry, we won’t tell – but you might want to start doing the legwork now.
