Dog…
Cat…
Which do you prefer?
And the more interesting question:
Why?
Apparently, Popular Science magazine couldn’t get this question out of their heads, so they dug into the research and discovered that YES, there are some clear distinctions between cat people and dog people.
The distinctions fall into a group of personality characteristics labeled with the term OCEAN:
- Openness
- Conscientiousness
- Extroversion
- Agreeableness
- Nervousness
People who prefer cats tend to be higher in Openness and Nervousness.
People who prefer dogs tend more towards Extroversion and Agreeableness.
Other differences that studies have indicated:
- Dog people tend to be more dominant in social situations and interactions.
- Cat people are more likely to be female.
