Here’s a cute story: A man took his two sons (a six-year-old and a four-year old) to a holiday party where the great Saint Nick would be handing out gifts. The instructions, though, asked the parents to bring their own gifts.

So, the parent brought a couple of wrapped boxes containing beach towels with the boys’ names printed on them.

The six-year-old was obviously a hard sell. He expressed doubt about the identity of Santa Claus. He thought Santa was just waaay too skinny.

But his doubt evaporated when he opened his gift. “Dad! He must be the real deal! How else would have known my name?!”

That’s part of the joy of this season, isn’t it? To see a child’s face light up as they believe in magic. It can fill your heart with pleasure when you see children happy that yes, they are known – and loved.

As the famous song goes, “He knows when you are sleeping… he knows when you’re awake. He knows when you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake!”

We might not know when you’re sleeping or awake (thank goodness). But we have talked to many clients who have a tough time sleeping because they’re not sure what will happen for them after retirement.

The best cure for those sleepless nights is to have a quick 15-minute call where we can address your concerns and perhaps schedule a more in-depth conversation.

And if that beach towel story made you think of warmer climates with a soft breeze wafting through the palm trees near a beach, definitely call. Because part of the joy of retirement is knowing you can plan those types of getaways. Beach towel optional.
