They’re cuddly.
They’re sweet.
They’re loyal.

With hundreds of breeds in all shapes, sizes, and personalities – there’s a dog for everyone! When you throw in their adorable antics, you can’t deny their impact on the hearts of people everywhere – even if you’re not a dog person.

Here’s a heartwarming story about man’s best friend that’ll brighten your day:

Sissy, a schnauzer hailing from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pulled a Houdini in 2015 when her owner Nancy Franck was in the hospital battling cancer. Refusing to be separated, Sissy escaped the family home and made her way 20 blocks to the Mercy Medical Center in the hopes of a reunion.

Although she couldn’t quite figure out the elevators, the fact that she made it to her owner’s hospital is nothing short of impressive! Luckily, Sissy was found by a kind security guard who got in touch with Nancy’s husband Dale and returned her safely home.

Who’s a good girl? You are, Sissy!

But I can’t stop with just one story.

In Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jeffrey Groat was spending the evening playing cards with a friend and her daughter when a drunk driver crashed into his home – landing Groat in the hospital with broken bones. Burke, his teacup Great Dane (apparently that’s a thing!) escaped through the hole in the home created by the accident.

After three days, Burke was returned to his owner by a kind local resident. Burke was found at the emergency entrance of Kootenai Health and promptly reunited with Groat when the good Samaritan saw the missing dog’s photo on the news.

“It was unbelievable,” Groat said of his surprise reunion. “It made my day. I didn’t even feel my broken bones then.”
