Just in time for Halloween –
If you’ve been looking to upscale your digs, one of the world’s most famous (or should I say “infamous”) pieces of real estate is back on the market.
Dracula’s castle.
Okay, it’s not “technically” Dracula’s castle. Vlad Tepes – the Wallachian ruler who inspired the legendary count – never actually owned the place.
(Sources do make the case that Tepes was at least imprisoned and held captive there for a few months way back in the day.)
Located in central Romania and better known as Bran Castle, it dates back to the year 1388. It receives over 560,000 visitors a year, each coughing up cold cash for the privilege of seeing the turrets and embattlements that inspired Bram Stoker to set his chilling tale at this piece of pricy real estate.
With 57 rooms on 22 acres, the castle has hit the market numerous times over recent years, with investors once hoping to get $135 million.
Since 2009, the property’s been owned and cared for by the members of the royal Romanian Habsburg family. They’ve appreciated it for its history, and it’s been well taken care of. But they’re ready to move on to other haunts and therefore have once again placed it on the market.
Rumor has it they’re open to all reasonable bids, which makes sense given that even though it does have electricity, the buyer will have to invest in some upgrades to add indoor plumbing.
If turning Dracula’s roost into a bed and breakfast doesn’t appeal to you as a wise investment, let’s talk about other options. Call 513-563-PLAN (7526) or book online to set up your free 15-minute call.
