There’s little doubt politics is a minefield of controversy and division.
Never fear, this message won’t dip even a toe into those waters…
Instead, I’m going to share a research finding that ALL sides of the political spectrum seem to agree heartily upon…
And I’ll wager you won’t think it surprising in the least.
A new study from Pew Research reveals an amazing level of agreement on this key point – there’s UNIVERSAL distrust of Social Media as a source of news.
Which probably isn’t surprising, but it’s a bit of a head-scratcher as well because, according to another study by Pew in 2018, 68% of Americans now get at least some news content daily via the aforementioned, accursed Social Media.
Political leanings make zero difference – the stats are pretty astounding:
Platform | Democrat/Lean Democrat | Republican/Lean Republican |
---|---|---|
59% | 62% | |
46% | 51% | |
41% | 45% | |
Youtube | 34% | 40% |
24% | 25% | |
16% | 21% |
If you ask me, this demonstrates an encouraging level of common-sense continues to exist even in these contentious times.
My recommendation – enjoy Social Media for what it was designed to offer… being SOCIAL. Share fun family photos. Updates on jobs and life. Dancing cat videos. The stuff our friends and loved ones all want to know more about.
